Discovery

Few weeks after joining Superuber there were some occasional small talks about a internal ideia of building digital worlds that everyone could join and learn somethings, kind of a VR experiment for learning. One day I approached the tech lead and said we should start scratching the surface of this ideia.

This was my first experience working with VR and by 2017 those were unknown waters, not many references or guidelines to benchmark at. We started deep-diving into the VR world, testing all kinda headsets by the time from Oculus and Vive till accessible options like Google cardboard. Specially on VR sets that did not have hand commands as a feature it was very tricky to navigate only with your head as the main source of commands. But those were affordable, and if we're aiming a global scale it needed to work with the minimum possible.

Solution

SuperViz happened to be a cross-platform that can be used on mobile screens, mobile VR headsets, and desktop computers. You create your particular world and share knowledge with tools like laser pointers, drawing, hotspots, and voice to enhance the experience of each world session.

Live-to-Session-Portrait
One of the simplest flows in-app would be to login - invited or not by someone - seeing what's live now, seeing some details and then hopp into VR experience.
Landscape_Session
When going "landscape mode" the session starts to load. In-Session action is all about listening and exploring the world created.
Main-Tabs-App
The main tabs (except the profile) follow a modular construction based on sessions - live/recorded/created. Note the the action button change depending the tab you are at.
Creating-New-Session-App
Creating a new session is divided in three steps: choosing a interactive world (online/local); enhancing this world with assets (this will assist when in class); detailing and setting preferences.

Results

At the end of the process, the product fitted multiple areas like architecture and construction, but for me seeing the original purpose of enhancing the learning experience had a special taste, as you can see in the user case below.
